If you used your credit cards to make a purchase at any Hyatt Hotel between August 13, 2015 and December 8, 2015, it's time to dig out your old credit card statements and doublecheck for fraudulent purchases.

Hyatt Hotels recently acknowledged a major credit card data breach that affected approximately 250 hotels in more than 50 countries.  And while most of the impacted credit cards were used in hotel restaurants, some cards could also be at risk if they were used in hotel spas, parking lots, front desks, or even hotel golf courses.

Of course, Hyatt isn't the first large hotel chain to deal with a major data breach like this.  Many others, including Trump Hotels and the Mandarin Oriental have recently suffered similar breaches.  The fact of the matter is you can't rely on hotels to be on the cutting edge of security when it comes to their computer systems.  They will continue to be targeted and breached by hackers, which means consumers need to be ever watchful of their credit card statements for fraudulent activity.
