Employer Credit Checks Don't Hurt Credit Scores

It's no secret that some employers will conduct credit checks as part of their hiring process. Whether or not you agree with it, it happens all the time. However, many people seem to believe that this also means their credit scores will be reviewed as well.

That's simply not the case. It's important to remember that what a "credit check" means in this situation is that employers are pulling a specific version of your credit reports from the credit bureaus. They don't actually see your credit scores too.

In addition, this type of credit inquiry is similar to when you pull your own credit reports or credit scores. Since it's not associated with an application for a line of credit, your credit scores will not be affected in any way.
