3 Credit Reporting Agencies You've Never Heard Of

Everybody knows about the "Big 3"—Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. But did you know there are 3 other companies out there keeping track of your personal information and selling it to those who want to know more about you?

First, Innovis Data Solutions, which used to be known as CBC, is a national credit bureau that operates much like the 3 major credit reporting agencies mentioned above. So what's the difference? Not much, except they're much smaller and there's no FICO credit score generated from the information in your Innovis credit report.

Second, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC Credit Services) is one that might sound familiar since it's affiliated with Equifax in many midwestern states. What this means is depending upon the state in which you live, CSC might own your credit report and share in any revenue generated from its sale with Equifax. Any disputes you initiate through Equifax will also be handled directly by CSC.

Lastly, ChoicePoint is a company that collects your information and sells reports and/or scores to insurance companies and potential employers. In addition, Landlords reviewing a rental application may also purchase reports from ChoicePoint which outline your history as a renter.
