New technology is allowing even smaller business operations the ability to accept credit card payments.
Entrepreneurs and smaller businesses may have trouble when it comes to gaining access to credit card transactions, though new technologies may open payment options to them.
Recently, Apple launched the iPad, which provides consumers and businesses a new platform to stay connected and informed. Along with allowing internet surfing, the iPad gives consumers a way to read books or shop online.
Now, through a product made available from Square Inc., the iPad can also act as a credit card machine. Through attaching the company's swipe reader to the iPad, credit card transactions can be processed just about anywhere.
The company released the credit card reader last year as a compliment to smartphones, including Apple's iPhone. Consumers can download support software from Square's website, SquareUp.com, or Apple's App Store.
Square is a venture from Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey and was launched in 2009. The company plans on expanding support for the card swiper to other products, including Motorola's Droid smartphone.
