Some consumers turn to phones to take care of accounts.
Using the internet may be a popular way for some consumers to research a variety of financial products, including credit card offers.
It is also the favorite avenue for some to pursue their banking needs. That route is taken further by some through mobile banking, a trend that may increase in the coming months.
According to a recent survey from the Mobile Marketing Association, 17 percent of adult respondents said they used mobile banking. Furthermore, the poll showed that the next year could see 22 percent of adults turn to their phones while banking.
"This study shows that mobile banking is a major opportunity both today and over the long term, with applications rapidly emerging as one of the most popular ways that U.S. adults bank on the go," said Jacqueline Rosales, an executive vice president for Luth Research, which conducted the survey.
While more consumers may turn to a cell or smartphone in order to do their banking, recent advances in technology may make it easier for them to use credit cards while making mobile purchases. Two companies have announced devices that will attach to smartphones which will allow consumers to swipe their cards - rather than enter account numbers - when buying things.
