Devices allow users to swipe cards on their iPhones.

Payment convenience is one of the things a credit card offers, and a number of companies have recently announced products that may make plastic even easier to use.

For example, Mophie, which is a company that specializes in cell phone accessories, recently announced it will launch a credit card swiping attachment for Apple's iPhone. Rather than typing in a credit card number to make a transaction through the iPhone, people who have the device will be able to swipe their card just as they would at a retail counter.

The company is expected to add further details about the product at the upcoming 2010 International CES, which is a large, consumer electronics convention that will be held from January 7 to January 10 in Las Vegas.

The product from Mophie will have to compete with a similar device developed by Square, whose CEO is Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. The device launched recently by Square attaches to the headphone jack of a cell phone. The device features the ability for consumers to have receipts from transactions emailed or text messaged.
