Business cardholders can get discounts on air travel.
When considering credit card offers from companies, one thing that may play a role in the decision is the type of benefits programs that come with an account.
Recently, American Express announced that it has expanded its OPEN Savings program by partnering with AirTran Airways. AirTran is a low-cost airline that caters to business travelers with more than 700 flights a day.
Through the expansion of the program, people who hold small business credit cards through American Express will get 5 percent off when they purchase tickets with AirTran. The card provider's OPEN Savings program is also sponsoring free Wi-Fi connectivity on AirTran flights from March 13 to March 27 of this year.
"With this new partnership, small businesses can reduce their airline expenses just by using their American Express Business Card," said Kirk Fitzsimmons, vice president of OPEN Savings.
Rewards programs like those from American Express are not a new feature of credit cards for businesses. Though entrepreneurs may use these offers to weigh what card they choose, experts note that how much they will pay in interest and annual fees should also be taken into consideration, as these may offset the positives of any program rewards.
