Over the last few years, the price consumers have paid to fly has risen sky-high.
Thanks to some new perks offered by airlines, that may no longer be the case. According to an article in the Detroit News, customers who pay for their flight on most major airlines with a branded credit card can now get free baggage check. Both Continental and Delta offer this service now, for up to nine people traveling on a cardholder's reservation. These cards do, however, come with an annual fee.
One expert told the paper that other airlines are likely to follow suit, because many are also cutting back on air miles rewards. Adding this new perk will add value and soothe disgruntled frequent flyers even as their annual fees increase.
A recent report from Forbes suggested that many consumers who get this type of card can make up the cost of the annual fee with just one flight if they fly with three other people who check bags.
